The 1st day of the rest of our lives

Sunday, February 28th, 2010

All loaded up and ready to start out on a 4 week adventure - heading to Colorado Springs to visit John's sisters, Linda and Mary Ann and their families. Rita will be riding along and then flying back on March 10th, 2010. From there John and I will head to Utah, Arizona, and maybe even New Mexico. Larry brought Rita to our house right on time so once we had Rita's suitcase in the trunk John loaded the bike. Everyone said there goodbye's to Larry and I went to get in the car - as I went to pull the door shut Larry backed up and backed into the right front door and sprung the door. Well, everyone put there heads together and I called Mike and Rita called Tim (Rita & Larry's son who has done a lot of body work) to see if either of them had an idea of what we could do. Mike came over and said he could take it to the shop and get the door fixed so we could at least open and close it. However, Tim was already on his way with a door jack so we decided to wait and see what he could do. Tim was able to get it so that the door can be open and closed and we were able to get on our way. Of course, Rita and Larry felt so bad but it was an accident and we are thankful that no one was hurt. Larry has already talked to someone and they will get our car fixed when we get back from vacation. Paula - don't worry no insurance claim. lol
We are in Lincoln, Nebraska tonight and hope to arrive in Colorado Springs by 5:00 or 6:00PM tomorrow night.
Now tell me, how many people can say that they go on vacation and have an accident before they even get out of their driveway? Only John & Kathi!
Happy Trails and I will try to update the blog frequently!

  2. And they're off! We've all got our eyes on you and wish you a very enjoyable trip. Spin a few for Dennis and I and when you hit that first hill, we'll be with you in thought.
