We checked out of the Days Inn in Prescott Valley this morning ate breakfast and headed towards Wickenburg to spend the day with Lynn and Dick. We had a very beautiful drive to Wickenburg and arrived at Lynn and Dick's between 10:30 and 11:00 on Saturday morning. We sat and visited with Lynn and Dick and then had a delicious lunch with homemade soup, dip, crackers, and sandwiches.
We then went and got our hiking shoes on and the 4 of us went hiking in the desert (right behind their home). We ended up going on a 8 1/2 mile hike in the desert - up and down hills and the desert was very green for this area due to the rain that Wickenburg has had this spring. It was a wonderful hike and a great visit with Lynn & Dick.
Once we were done with the hike John and I got on our bike and biked to the Safeway grocery store and picked up a few items. While we were gone Lynn made chicken and dumplings with peas and asparagus. It was a delicous meal and so good to have another home cooked meal.
Once dishes were done we played Spinner and then Phase 10 and then off to bed. John and I are planning on getting up early and having breakfast and then heading to Surprise, AZ to spend the day with Dana and Bill Brown. We had such a wonderful time with Lynn and Dick and look forward to them coming to Wisconsin this summer. When we were in Wickenburg several years ago Lynn had me pick a rock from the desert and she said she would paint a picture of Lake Pleasant on it. Well, she had it done and gave it to me and she did such a great job painting it.
I called home today and got to talk with Crystal and ended up leaving the rest of the kids a voice mail. I have really enjoyed the emails that I have received from the kids since we left home.
